"He Eats Like a Grady!"

We tried rice cereal for the first time the other day and Colin ate it like a champ. I am a little disappointed that Colin didn't make any funny faces, cry, spit it out, etc. In the words of his father, "he eats like a Grady!"

Great Grandparents

I am finally home! With all of the rough weather here in Dallas it took an extra day and a few cancelled flights to make it, but we did it and Colin did REALLY well on this flight.

Over the 3+ weeks in Utah and California, Colin got to meet and spend time with every living grandparent and great grandparent we have. It was really special introducing the little guy to some of the most influential people in my life (I mean, they raised my parents and that is a pretty big deal, don't you think?).

It's official...there is another Leslie Grady!

Yes...the days of being the only Leslie Grady have come to an end. I must now share the title, but there is no one I would rather share it with than my new sister-in-law, the new Leslie Ann Willes Grady.

While having the same name in the family definitely complicates things, it really is only fair that I experience it since Kevin's been dealing with it for quite some time. You see, the name "Kevin" is a popular one in our family. I have a husband, brother, and cousin named Kevin, not to mention that my father's middle name is Kevin. So no, our next son will not be Kevin Jr...it would just be too much!

Anyway, the last Grady took the plunge last week and it was a really wonderful wedding.

5 Months

I am sorry that you've been travelling so much lately.

Your little guy misses you tons.

Colin is 5 months old today

He has soooo many quirks! He loves to keep one arm out like this.

And frequently gives me this kind of unsure, panicked look

He tries to eat anything in sight and drools over everyone that will give him a finger to chew on.

Still no teeth...

He gets super frustrated when he can't figure out how to get objects in to his mouth.

For the most part he is a really happy baby :)

He loves to be outside, look at himself in the mirror, and especially to stand. I am surprised he humored me long enough to sit in these pictures!

Colin is very curious and is constantly looking around him but rarely at the person holding him.

Hanging at Nana's

We've been having a great time here in California! Colin has been spending lots of time with his Nana while I get to do fun things like go to the movies and get my hair done :)

Tonight we went to El Torito to celebrate Mother's Day and my dad's birthday. Shana surprised my dad by secretly telling the server it was his bday...I don't think he liked being sung to, which was really funny.

Have you seen this movie?

So, last night my sister, Stacie, her boyfriend, Mitch, and I were running through the available movies to rent on Vudu (ps...totally the coolest thing EVER!!!) and came across Legend. After a quick deliberation, we decided to rent it.

You see, if I had to pick THE movie of my childhood, this would probably be it (also on the list is Mary Poppins and The Princess Bride). So, for old times' sake for Stacie and I and a bunch of patience and ever present "laidbackedness" from Mitch, we relived our childhood.

HOLY COW! No wonder I had nightmares as a child!

Take one, shall we say, "horny" devil (I just laughed at my own cleverness there!),

a bunch of freaky looking, unicorn-killing goblins,

a bare legged, bad acting (this was one of his first movies) Tom Cruise in Peter Pan get-up and a mini gold dress,

a princess turned goth with a man chest,

awesomely cheesy techno video game music, and a totally disjointed plot and you get the best/worst 80's fantasy movie ever!

I loved this movie. I think it was the unicorns and the pretty princess. It's like the producers knew that they didn't have a very strong script so they were like "Hey, lets make the symbol of innocence a unicorn and a princess and then all the little girls will want to come see this horrible movie no matter what."

Well, it worked. And I still love this movie...even if I only want to watch it to make fun of it!
