Two Years

On Colin's second birthday, we drove from California up to Utah, stopping in St. George for a surprise (for Colin) birthday party.  Ever the amazing aunt, Lisa came up with the idea on her own and planned everything...all we had to do was drive 5 hours to get there, ready with our bibs tucked in!

Pizza, cake, ice cream, presents, balloons, and cousins...what more could a little boy ask for?  Thank you, Lisa, for throwing our son's birthday!  Sad to say, it probably wouldn't have happened at all without you :)

Lisa made a baseball cake for Colin - he LOVED it!

Baby Connor and Reagan - born just 2 weeks apart!

Now, for our records, here is a little bit about Colin at two years old:

  • Colin loves his little sister and likes to hold her (with our help, of course!) and even tries to pick her up, to my chagrin.  When she cries, he runs to her and gives her a kiss on her head. He loves pointing out parts on her body ("Mama! Head! Mama, hand!").
  • Colin is an active little boy and loves to go to the park with his pale and shovel and dig in the wood chips.
  • His favorite show is Little Einsteins...hence my least favorite show is Little Einsteins!
  • He loves pulling his stool up to watch me change Reagan's diaper.
  • When I am cooking, he loves standing on his stool and playing with all our measuring cups
  • He loves pushing buttons (and not just mine!).  If a toy (or anything in the house) has buttons, he has a hard time leaving it alone
  • When we say prayers at dinner, he almost always sneaks some of his food!
  • He is stingy with the kisses, but not after prayers - then you get all the kisses you want!
  • He absolutely LOVES bath time! It is just hard keeping him from drinking the water!
  • Colin gets very excited when Kevin comes home - he gets super giggly and happy and clingy.
  • He is learning new words at an ever increasing rate!  A few months ago, he would never repeat anything I said when I asked.  Instead, he would just say the word weeks or even months later, surprising me that he was even paying attention all those times he pointed to something and I told him what it was!  Now he is far less reluctant.  Sometimes, he even repeats it the first time I ask!
  • Colin's current vocabulary (I am sure I have forgotten lots!)
    • Food: Dong dong (hot dog), wapple (waffle), milk, water, ssssssnack (snack), own (orange), apple, nana (banana), cheese
    • Technology: pie-pah (iPad), phone, show (TV show), button, yigh yigh yights (lights)
    • Parts of the Body: head, eye, nose, mouth, chin, cheek, ehbow (elbow), hand, knee, leg, ankle, foot
    • Family: Mom/Dad (and all its variations), seeter (sister), baby, See-see (Stacie), Angroo (Andrew), Nana, Papa, Dylan
    • Clothing: shoe, sock, pants,diaper
    • Actions: up, down, fly, run, poop (always followed by giggles!), walk
    • Animals: fog (frog), peeg (pig), bird, buh-fly (butterfly), woof/dog
    • Animal sounds: if you can think of a sound, he probably knows it (he still says "duh duh" for the frog ribbit)
    • Toys: Foooootball, da-da ball (basketball), ba-ball (baseball), choo choo (train), book, bayoon (balloon)
    • Random: more, all done, sad, sanduh (sorry), fork, spoon, seat, pumpkin, seeyide (outside), stairs, friend, house, snow, slide, melmo (Elmo), red, pink, cool, woohoo, baff (bath), eeze (please), tank you (thank you), seep (sleep), bed, no, yes, moon

You give me far too much credit, Leslie, but I'm glad you enjoyed the party :)
